What makes OldSchoolBags so special and unique?
When we started OldSchoolBags, we were very happy with the end result, the satchels. But that was not the only thing. We were also proud that the Dutch satchel was “100% Made in Holland” again: handmade by local craftsmen.
There are almost no bag makers left in our country. Over the years, all production has moved abroad, mostly to China and India. Now, the Dutch satchel is made in our own country again … like it should be, we think.
Actually, the bag is not 100% made in Holland but 100% made in North Brabant. The idea may have been invented in Amsterdam, but the bags are made in the south of the country. Also, the tannery is very close to our production site, it’s only a 15 kilometers journey. So very little transport required compared to the bags from China and India.
Handmade in Kaatsheuvel
The bags are made at Wim Mutsaers in Kaatsheuvel, he and his bag makers have more than 30 years of experience and they work on it with a lot of pride, passion and craftsmanship. If you want to know more about Wim and his company, please look at his website: http://wimmutsaers.nl.
The fact that we make the bags here is not only good for the economy, but also gives a lot of flexibility. Each bag that is ordered can be made within 5 working days.
Tannery in Rijen
The leather also comes from the area, namely from the village of Rijen. At the tanneries of Wendel Leathers they make the most beautiful colors and leather versions. They also make our specials, such as the leather with the denim and the leather with the special Bas Kosters print on it.

And all that craftsmanship results in this beautiful end product. Our main bags, the XL satchel, are shown below. We make these in 19 different beautiful colors and striking designs. A really nice Dutch product that we really love.
